Ingredients :

1/4 cup50 mLbutter

2 tbsp30 mLRobin HoodĀ® All Purpose Flour

1 can354 mLCarnationĀ® Regular or 2% Evaporated MilkĀ 

1 1/4 cups300 mLgrated Swiss cheese

2 tbsp30 mLcrumbled blue or goat cheese

1/2 tsp2 mLsalt

Pinch ground nutmeg

Dash hot pepper sauce (optional)

1/4 cup50 mLextra milk or water (if needed)

Accompaniments:

Cubed French or other crusty bread

Red or yellow pepper chunks

Zucchini sticks

Broccoli florets

Directions :

Ā  1 :Ā  In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and cook, stirring for 2 minutes, but do not colour. Whisk in evaporated milk. Bring to a gentle simmer; stirring constantly (sauce is thin at this stage). Remove from heat and stir in both cheeses, salt, nutmeg and pepper sauce, if using. Stir to melt cheese.

Ā  2 :Ā  Transfer to a fondue pot and place over low heat to keep warm, but not boil. Add extra milk or water to thin sauce, if desired.

Ā  3 :Ā  Arrange vegetables and bread on platter and basket. With long fondue forks, dip bread and vegetables into sauce. (There is a tradition that if a piece of food is dropped in the pot, you kiss the person next to you!!!).

Tip(s)

Arrange vegetables on a platter, cover and refrigerate until serving time
