Everyone wants to meet their needs, have a nice house, nice cars… Some are lucky to belong to well-off families where the inheritance alone is enough to be free from want. On the other hand, others have to work very hard and fully invest in their study to have money. Then comes the eternal question: what studies to earn a lot of money ?
One question that torments the minds of students everywhere is: Which degree will give me the best chance of getting rich? And this same question is often present in the minds of people who are already working full time and want to get a second degree – perhaps an MBA or other graduate degree – to improve their professional skills and career prospects.
I know, I know – it’s not all about the money. But getting a degree invariably leads to a good job, and part of a good job is, of course, good pay. Check out our list of the best studies to get rich.
Studying medicine to earn a lot of money
In general, it takes about 9 to 12 years of study to become a doctor, moving from lecture halls to hospitals. In France, medical studies take place in 3 main stages:
The first cycle
This cycle allows candidates admitted to medicine to acquire the basics of medicine. In other words, it is for them to study both healthy and sick man.
For this, they have the teachings of physiology (study of the functioning of living beings); semiology (study of symptoms of a disease); anatomy (study of the shape and structure of living things); microbiology (science that studies microorganisms and very small living things); etc.
For practice, they first do a full-time 4-week nursing internship. Then, they pass in the general or specialized services of the hospitals this time, for at least 12 weeks. At the end of this cycle, they get the dgeneral education diploma in medical sciences in short DFGSM.
The day school
Also called second cycle, the day school brings together the 4e, 5e and 6e years. Here, the theoretical training of learners is essentially based on the study of pathologies. That is to say, their causes, their manifestations, their prevention and their treatment.
Unlike the first cycle, in an externship, the practice takes up more time. In addition, students are already receiving remuneration, the amount of which depends on the progress of the course.
At the end of the second cycle, medical students obtain the advanced training diploma in medical sciences (DFASM). To determine the specialty and the city where they will do the internship, they take the computerized national classifying tests. In short ECNi, this exam takes place over 2 days.
The length of the internship varies in France. It is 3 years for general practitioners and 4 to 5 years for other specialties (surgery, pediatrics, radiology…). Currently, there are around forty specialties. Just like externs, interns also do internships. These last about 6 months. In addition, they also have some theoretical lessons which they follow in the amphitheatres.
During the internship, they prepare an exercise thesis. At the end of the internship, students who have validated the internship, the teaching and the dissertation obtain the state diploma of doctor of medicine.
Engineering studies to get rich
When we ask ourselves what studies to earn a lot of money, engineering is usually at the podium. Indeed, like medicine, it is a profession which in most cases guarantees a good fortune. Here, the learner is trained in a specific discipline for 5 years before entering the world of employment. Here is what you need to know about the stages of this training.
Generally, the preparatory classes are very selective and give access after 2 years to competitions. Indeed, they are considered the most prestigious course, because they train at a high level of knowledge. In some engineering schools, there are places reserved only for students in preparatory classes.
One of the biggest advantages of these classes is that they allow students to take time to think before choosing a specialty. However, they do not give students the possibility of doing work placements in companies.
As their names indicate, the integrated prepas take place in an engineering school. Admission is essentially by competitive examination. Unlike preparatory classes, here students choose their specialty from the first year. In addition, the integrated preparation promotes training in both theory and practice (lecture hall and work placements).
Thanks to the parallel routes, students can access engineering schools with a bac + 1, bac + 2 or even more. Recruitment can be done either by study of a file or by competitive examination. It all depends on the school you want to attend. And also, your previous course should be related to the training sought.
For example, you must have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, physics or computer science. But unfortunately not all schools practice this kind of recruitment. There are some that do not allow admission to bac + 1.
Studying law to earn a lot of money
Let us now turn to one of the more traditional studies to follow to earn big money. Studying law can be a long and difficult process, but it can earn you a very good salary. But again, this is not a get-rich-quick scheme. The path of a lawyer is often one of working long hours while slowly progressing through a business. Legal training in France is many and varied. Depending on the desired educational level, we distinguish:
Law studies in bac + 2
At the end of this course, one obtains either a university degree in technology (DUT in law); or a higher technician’s certificate (BTS in law).
Law studies in bac + 3
For a baccalaureate-type training +3, you can choose one of the courses below:
As part of a law degree, at the beginning the students receive general law lessons. Subsequently, that is to say in the third year, they specialize in public law, international law, private law, administrative law …
- Professional law degree
This course allows learners who already wish to practice, to professionalize quickly. At the end of the training, they obtain a professional license in law.
In a Bachelor of Law course, the emphasis is on both professional and international aspects.
Law studies in bac + 5
Here, students specialize in a specific legal profession in a specific area of law.
Other law studies
It is also possible to study law, become a lawyer and earn a good salary each month.
In today’s world, there are hundreds of university and college degrees, each of which provides its students with various employment opportunities for the future.
