Over the years our society changes and, together with it, our way of life also changes. This continuous evolution is linked to the new discoveries we make or, more simply, to the different knowledge we have, even on already known elements. This is true for all areas concerning our life but, in this article, we will deal with the changes concerning knowledge of sport and the right diet connected to it. Nutrition is essential for your well-being, especially with the arrival of the cold season and the return to sport in the gym, swimming pool and the start of training for those who practice sports at a competitive level.

How the body changes, between training and nutrition

Over the decades our conception of body care has changed radically: if we look at the photos of the past, we will see physicists who have extremely different characteristics from the current ones, the shape considered optimal and the aesthetic standards have changed and continue to change. Together with the latter, our knowledge of food is also evolving. Anyone who does sport, especially those who practice it at a competitive level, knows perfectly well that in addition to training it is essential to take care of nutrition carefully: there is no professional sportsman who does not make the two aspects proceed hand in hand. Assuming the right nutritional intake through a balanced choice of elements such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, sugars, fibers is an essential prerequisite for our training to translate into the desired results.

Dried fruit and sport

Among the foods that over time scholars in the food sector – and consequently sportsmen – have started to look with different eyes there is certainly dried fruit: a series of products that in the past were evaluated exclusively as rich in fats which, instead, they are considered fundamental for their beneficial contributions to our body, especially for those who decide to supplement their diet by contributing positively to their workouts with a diet rich in vitamins.

The strength of almonds

Almonds are extremely rich in fiber and therefore improve our digestive process; they are also rich in minerals such as manganese and magnesium, which help reduce fatigue when we train. There are also many vitamins, they contain riboflavin (B2) and are an important source of niacin (B3), thiamine (B1) and folate (B9): all these elements significantly favor our energy metabolism. They also contain healthy fats, useful for the production of the so-called good cholesterol, and proteins; moreover, they are a precursor of nitric oxide. The combination of all these substances makes almonds very useful to significantly improve our athletic performance.
