The space race got underway today, July 20, 2021. The journey of Jeff Bezos it is destined to make history and there is a name that will be talked about for a long time.
Who is Oliver Daemen
The name that will go down in history is that of Oliver Daemen, the very young Dutchman who accompanied Jeff Bezos.
His was a very coveted place and yet it was his turn to take part in this fantastic adventure! Many are unaware that Oliver Daemen has had a series of lucky events on his side. Oliver is only 18 years old and in September he will start university in the faculty of Physics. Yet, despite his very young age, the rich eighteen year old will be among the most talked about names from today. Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft is ready to welcome him.
Oliver is originally from Tilburg in North Brabant.
He graduated from the Catholic high school in his city and then decided to take a year off to understand which studies to undertake for his future. In this gap year, Oliver joined Grupo One Air Aviation, the aviation school in Malaga, Spain, with which it is possible to obtain a private pilot’s license. Oliver is the son of a wealthy multimillionaire businessman, Joes Daemen.
The man is the founder and CEO of Somerset Capital Partners.
The lucky auction ticket for Oliver Daemen
Many people wonder how he did it Oliver Daemen to win the place next to Jeff Bezos. An auction had been opened to fill the vacancy, which was later won by a mysterious anonymous. The ticket had a mind-boggling value: a whopping 28 million dollars. The lucky ticket holder, however, has decided to give up the space travel, giving as a reason other commitments that cannot be postponed. However, it is rumored that Blue Origin will welcome him on New Shepard’s next flight.
During the auction the father of Oliver Daemen, Joes Daemen, made an offer for the ticket that entitled them to travel to orbit. Hers was therefore the second best offer. A gesture as selfless as it was paternal was the one made by Joes Daemen: the man has in fact decided to take a step back and allow his son to take his place. Today, together with the very young eighteen year old ea Jeff Bezos, there were also Mark (Bezos’ brother) and Wally Funk, the 82-year-old aviator.
There are several truly unique aspects that they will bring Oliver Daemen not to be easily forgotten. It is above all the youngest astronaut in history, with just 18 years. It is also the first paying passenger on a flight into space. Certainly there will be some criticisms given that, at least for the moment, people with a wealthy economic situation will be able to afford these unique experiences.
