Christopher Walken, born Ronald Walken (New York, March 31, 1943), is an American actor.
He grew up in Queens with his parents, the father of German bakers and his mother from Scotland. His approach to artistic world initially sees him immersed in the world of dance, specifically the tip-tap.
In fact, his mother pushes him and his brothers to enter the world of entertainment with the hope of seeing them acting in a musical. His debut is recorded towards the end of the 50s where he participates in various productions under the pseudonym of “Ronnie Walken” which will change only in the following decade.
The beginning of the career in the entertainment world
Before entering totally into the world of acting, he tries to enroll in university but retires for devote yourself to the theater.
His career in fact develops first on the stages where he performs important works in pieces such as “The Lion in Winter” or “The Rose Tatoo”. His interpretations of Shakespeare’s most famous works such as Hamlet, Macbeth or Romeo and Juliet are also known.
Instead, he made his debut in the cinema with “Me and My Brother” a 1969 film. In the following decade his career found a way to take off thanks to Woody Allen who chose him for the film “Me and Annie”. The luckiest year, however, is 1978 where thanks to his part in “The Hunter” alongside Robert De Niro he wins the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
The big blockbusters and the scandals
During the filming of “The Hunter” he spits in the face of Robert De Niro making a lot of talk about himself. However, he remains involved several years later, first in an assault, then in one even more news. During a day on the boat with his friend Robert Wagner and his wife Natalie Wood, she leaves the yacht by getting on a rubber dinghy and the next day is found drowned.
Despite the difficulty in the keep his reputation clean, his career continues to flourish with major parts in “007 – Moving Target” and later in “Batman – The Return” by Tim Burton. In 1994 he then took part in the well-known Quentin Tarantino project “Pulp Fiction” and in 2002 “Try to catch me” by Steven Spielberg with which he was nominated for an Oscar.
