Rami Malek has gone over the past decade to be one of the most desired actors in Hollywood. Here is his story from the beginning of his film career, through the award-winning Mr. Robot series, to the smash hit starring in the Freddie Mercury biopic “Bohemian Rapsody”.
Who is Rami Malek
Rami Said Malek (born May 12, 1981) is an American actor. He grew up in Los Angeles with the family of Egyptian origin composed of parents and siblings Sami and Yasmine. After the classic school path, he undertakes university studies to conclude them by obtaining the “Bachelor of Fine Arts” which introduces him to the world of entertainment and visual arts.
He approaches the world of acting by playing first secondary roles and of little consequence, like for example Kenny in the series “The war at home” but also like appearance in some telefilms such as “Gilmore Girls”. He also appears in an episode of “Medium” and a couple of “Over There”. The first most important part is the one in the trilogy of “A night at the museum” in the role of Pharaoh Ahkmenrah.
The beginning of Rami Malek’s film career
In addition to the role alongside Ben Stiller which then extends from 2006 to 2014, he participates in very different projects. In fact, at the age of 26 he took part in the theatrical representation “Vitality Productions” and then, moving to the small screen, to the “24” series. It also participates in the miniseries “The Pacific” produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks and, alongside the latter, in the same year at film “Love suddenly”.
Among the other quite important parts we also remember that of Benjamin in Twilight saga where he appears in the latest movie “Breaking Dawn – Part 2”. This is followed by works alongside Paul Thomas Anderson and Scott Waugh to then arrive at the first major part that allows him to obtain consent from critics and audiences: Elliot from Mr Robot. With this part wins a Emmy Award for Best Lead Actor and was nominated for a Golden Globe.
Rami Malek’s success as Freddie Mercury
The real turning point, however, comes in 2018 when he gets the part that upsets his career. In fact, he is chosen to play the great Freddie Mercury in the movie about his life entitled “Bohemian Rhapsody”. This role allows him to get the Golden Globe for Best Actor, the BAFTA but above all, the Academy Award for Best Actor protagonist. Taking part in this project allowed him, as well as making a leap in his career, to meet his girlfriend Lucy Boynton.
The actress has in fact played the role of Mary Austin, the woman of Freddie Mercury’s life, who has now also become that of Rami Malek. With her he shares a series of important personal goals such as being the first actor of Arab origin to access the most important film awards in the world. On the other hand, the career of the young Rami was not supported by his family, who wanted a safer and more fruitful path for him like the one that leads to becoming doctors or lawyers. Now, however, there is certainly no lack of pride in seeing him become a recognized actor.
