Who is Benedict Cumberbatch
Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch (born 19 July 1976) is a British actor. It only grows together with the father and mother both actors which convey to him the passion for acting. He attends schools in the capital and once they are finished he decides to take a gap year and teach English in a monastery.
Later he enrolled at the University of Manchester to follow the Dramaturgy studies and once completed he enrolls in the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He begins to really put into practice what he learned in 2001 when he gets numerous starring parts in classical works. The following year he starts getting proposals for TV projects, especially British TV series. In 2004 the first important recognition arrives with the BAFTA nomination for “Hawking”.

However, Cumberbatch also lived during his debut years difficult experiences. In fact, in 2005, during the filming of a series in South Africa, he was kidnapped together with two colleagues by a gang of local criminals who want weapons, drugs and money in exchange. While the three are tied up and kneeling, ready to be killed, they are saved due to some noises that put the kidnappers to flight.
Once back to normal, he dedicated himself again to acting, also obtaining prizes and nominations. Of great importance is his part of William Pitt in “Amazing Grace”, a film that tells the story of William Wilberforce who led the anti-slavery movement and led to the abolition of the slave trade. He also stars alongside Tom Hardy in “Stuart: A Life Backwards”, an adaptation of the well-known book.
The great success of Benedict Cumberbatch
The part that allows him to achieve great success, however, is that of Sherlock Holmes in the homonymous television series. This project is followed by others, especially a theater such as “The Children’s Monologues” and “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley. In 2011 he received the title of Actor of the Year according to GQ magazine after the successful projects “The Mole” and “War Horse” by Steven Spielberg.
It also gets secondary roles in film projects known as “Star Trek” or “12 Years a Slave” and “Secrets of Osage County”. Get back to major parts in 2014 with “The Imitation Game” with which he is nominated for both the Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best Actor.
