Who is Barbara D’Urso
Barbara D’Urso, born Maria Carmela D’Urso (Naples, May 7, 1957), is an Italian TV presenter.
Remaining orphaned as a child, grows up with his father and younger siblings born from his father’s second marriage. His childhood and adolescence then passed to the Campania capital until he decided to leave for Milan at the age of 19. Here dreams of entering the fashion world but it fails due to its insufficient height.
However, he gets the role of showgirl in 1977 on Telemilano 58. He made his debut in the “Goal” program alongside those who would become great names in the world of entertainment such as Massimo Boldi and Diego Abatantuono. He then spent a period in Rai where he participated in the variety “Stryx” and in the program “What a combination” together with Pippo Baudo, which at the weekend includes the format of “Domenica In”.
Barbara D’Urso and the beginning of her career
After his television debut, also debuts in the world of cinema. His first film was released in 1982 and was titled “Wild Grass” followed by “Metropolitan Blues” and “Vogliamoci too well”. In reality there are numerous projects that see her involved including also series and soap operas. However, he does not stop participating in numerous varieties and television programs such as “An evening of champions”.
However, he gets the real great success with the release of the series broadcast on Channel 5 “Doctor Giò” in which she plays a gynecologist who works in the hospital. Following this part he returns to conduct a series of programs divided between the different broadcasters including “Morning in the family” but above all the Big Brother. With the latter she obtained great success and was also confirmed for the 2004 edition, the year in which she even surpassed the ratings of the Sanremo Festival. He replaces Daria Bignardi not only in the GF, but also in the conduct of the reality show “The farm” taking over the helm for two consecutive editions.

In 2008 Barbara obtained the conduct of the program in the morning from the name “Morning Five” which he leads together with Claudio Brachino. Added to this is the role of presenter for a project from the same format broadcast in the pre-evening band. “Afternoon Five” in fact, it becomes his trademark, the symbolic program of the afternoon TV. He realizes that he prefers this last project and so he leaves the management of the first in favor of Federica Panicucci.
However, among his projects he adds “Sunday Five” which follows the same approach and sees her busy even on the last day of the week from after lunch to before dinner. In 2012 she was then chosen to conduct the simultaneous broadcast “Sunday Live” which registers over 12% share.
In the meantime he also returns to lead the reality show “Big Brother” again in both the fifteenth and sixteenth edition of the program. Television commitments over the years seem to decrease numerically, but seem to solidify.
