Malcolm X is a 1992 film directed by Spike Lee, a director widely active on the theme of racism. Lee offers on the big screen a biography of activist Malcolm X, who is played by a masterful Denzel Washington.
The film received two Academy Award nominations and one Golden Globes nomination.
Even the film The Hate You Give – The courage of truth of 2018, directed by George Tillman Jr. is a must-see masterpiece to delve into the theme of racism. It is an adaptation of a novel by Angie Thomas. The film blends family drama with racism themes and focuses specifically on the life of a young African American girl named Starr and how she is shocked by the killing of her friend by a police officer.
Fruitvale Station is a 2013 independent film that brings to the big screen the true story of Oscar Grant, a twenty-two-year-old black boy killed by the police but unarmed. Michael B. Jordan plays the role of the murdered young man in a crude film that shows the reality about racism.

Also with regard to the TV series there are many interesting proposals to deepen the theme of racism. Dear White People for example. It is a Netflix original series inspired by a 2014 movie: 4 seasons are available. Dear White People tackles the issue of racism in a mostly white college. At the center of the events is a group of African American boys struggling with the daily discrimination to be suffered.
Never Have I Ever also translated with I never… is a TV series distributed by Netflix from 2020. In reality it is a comedy-drama that revolves around the young Indian protagonist Devi Vishwakumar but issues of racism and cultural identity are also explored.
When They See Us has been hailed by many as the best TV series of 2019. Directed by the film director herself Selma, the miniseries deals with a truly shocking news story. For the violence committed against a girl in a park, four black boys and one Hispanic are found guilty, then exonerated after years in prison.
