In the seventies it approaches the experimental music and in the following decades he also moved on to other genres, fully exploring the power of music and, above all, words.

Franco Battiato: Eighties songs
One of the most popular and famous songs is Permanent center of gravity. His words are well known by anyone and it is a piece that has made the history of Italian music. The album from which it is taken, “La voce del padrone”, released in 1981, is one of Battiato’s best known and is a milestone in his career.
The piece is also taken from “La voce del Padrone” White flag, another backbone of the singer-songwriter’s discography. It is a critical hymn to the society of the time. There are indeed references to politics, money and terrorism.
Again from “The Master’s Voice” is the song Cuccurucucù, one of the most danced hits ever. The title is a tribute to the song “Cuccurucucù Paloma” by Caetano Veloso.
I want to see you dance, taken from the 1982 album “L’arca di Noé” is also one of Battiato’s most ballad songs. But not only that, twenty years later it returned to the limelight thanks to the remix of Prezioso and Marvin, who made it a dance anthem of the early 2000s.
Franco Battiato: 90s songs
The nineties opened for Franco Battiato with the release of the album “Come un camel in gondaia”, recorded at Abbey Road Studios. The most famous song on the disc is Poor homeland, which in 1992 won the Tenco prize. It is a song with a political taste, which is still current and contemporary today.
The cure it’s THE song. It is part of the 1996 album “L’Imboscata” and was written in collaboration with the philosopher Manlio Sgalambro. It is considered by many to be the most moving and beautiful piece of love in the entire history of Italian music. She addresses a loved one and urges them to recover from an illness. She won the Italian Music Prize in 1997 and in the same year, Battiato took her to the Festivalbar stage.
