Cool, unusual, vintage: they are flat waves on the hair, a trend that is a candidate to become an evergreen. Because everyone likes the wavy look. Here’s how to do it
They are called flat waves – the Italian translation is flat waves – and is one of the hair look most loved by the stars and by the stylists who, in recent seasons, have proposed it on the heads of the models. The reason is clear: it is an elegant and sensual hair style that can be easily customized. The flat waves they have a significant advantage over other hair looks: they give a touch of glamor without giving an “exaggerated” effect. In fact, they do not create volume like the typical waves of the 1950s and 1980s, while retaining a vintage allure which makes them unique. We advise them: they create movement is texture on the hair but in a discreet way both if the hair is fine and, on the other hand, if the hair is thick and thick. In short, all that remains is to try them. In the next paragraphs you will find all the useful tips to achieve this hair look.
Flat waves: the crease with soft flat waves
First of all, check to make sure you have everything you need to accomplish this natural wavy effect on the hair. Plate or iron are a must (even if there is more than one method to recreate the waves without, we will see it later). Polishing and texturizing sprays yet they are necessary to “block” the styling and make it last longer. But be careful: if you have the wavy hair it may take more steps (straightener + iron, for example). That’s why the flat waves they are more suitable on straight and medium-length hair (but also on short, as the looks of the forties suggest!)
Flat waves hair how to do them
Let’s move on to the practical part. Prepare the right foundation for the waves by vaporizing one texturizing spray on your hair and then dry it perfectly. Choose one tubular plate and work the lengths without getting too close to the root to give a hinted finish, never too defined. The plate should be held diagonally to give natural movement. Once you have recreated the wave, hold it still with your fingers for a few seconds and then leave the tips natural. Work the strands one by one and without haste to make sure that you do not have to pass the straightener or iron a second time.
Flat waves: to whom they are recommended
This kind of hairstyle it is perfect on straight hair especially of average length. Characteristic of the flat waves it is their delicacy: this is why they are not indicated on curly hair, which are difficult to tame and on very straight hair that would have difficulty withstanding styling. As for the length, on the very short they are impossible to achieve as on very long hair. In this case it is better to opt for the more classic (and always glam) beach waves.
Flat waves without plate
As anticipated, it is possible make flat waves without using the straightener. The easiest way is to create waves … with your fingers! Like? Twist a lock of hair on your fingers and dry it while continuing to twist it around itself. Repeat for all the locks until you have a gorgeous one slightly wavy and flat effect to be fixed with an ad hoc spray. Another trick that you will have seen grandmothers do, is to divide the hair into different locks by rolling them around one cloth band de wear well attached to the head. Keep it in place all night and you’ll have some beautiful ones afterwards gentle soft waves (which you can define with hairspray, spray or modeling wax). Among the many alternative tools, how can we forget the goose spouts or the more classic ones curlers? In the first case, work the small locks by turning them along the length and then lock them with the nozzle, drying the hair with the diffuser. Same procedure with curlers. Remember that small locks should be wrapped in small curlers, large locks in more voluminous curlers. The simplest method of all remains, however Braid – or rather the braids. Just part your hair into multiple braids before bedtime to wake up with one delicate wavy look (opt for very soft and never too small braids) to work later with your hands.
