Spencer, a name a guarantee, has a poster which reveals all the drama present in the film dedicated to Lady Diana. The film is presented at the Venice Film Festival and 01Distribution has unveiled the official poster of the film, expected in US cinemas from November.
Spencer, the poster of the film about Lady Diana
Lady Diana from behind, bent over, seated and with her face in her hands: this is the official image of Spencer. We do not see the face of the princess, who appears visibly upset and desperate. A non-random choice, which conveys all the suffering of Diana’s life. The poster depicts her in a white and gold dress, reminiscent of the iconic dress worn by the princess on her wedding day with the prince Carlo.
The costume designer designed the various looks Jacqueline Durran who, to recreate the legendary glamor style of Lady D, was inspired by several archive photos. The novelty is that in the film you will not see the outfit of the Princess simply replicated, but revisited in a modern way, reinterpreting them and merging the details that have made them iconic.
The poster’s white dress is not identical to the one signed by Elizabeth and David Emanuel for the Royal Wedding, but a real mix of different looks. It has the same maxi train as the sumptuous wedding dress, the same gold embroidery as the dress worn in 1986 during the dinner at the German embassy in London and is in pompous tulle like that of Bellville Sassoon for the visit to London’s V&A Museum. The target? Not simply to imitate Diana’s image, but to create a perfect balance between mystery and fragility.
Spencer: the plot
Spencer was directed by Pablo Larraín and was written by Steven Knight and will tell about the marriage crisis between Diana and Prince Charles. The film will then analyze their relationship, problems and separation. The story takes place in 1992 when Diana decides to put an end to his marriage with Charles during the Christmas holidays with the royal family in Norfolk. The production house Neon Pictures gave some anticipation.
The marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since cooled down. Although rumors of a divorce abound, peace reigns supreme over the holiday season spent on the Queen’s Sandringham estate. There is food and drink, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. But this year things will be profoundly different.
It is presented on 3 September as a world premiere at the Venice Film Festival (it will be among the films in competition) and is expected in American cinemas on 5 November. Currently there is still no official date for its release in Italy.

An unpublished story
There are many film and television transpositions that have told the story of the people’s princess. Diana – The secret story of Lady D, starring Naomi Watts focused on the last two years of Spencer’s life and her love affair with Hasnat Khan. In the series Netflix The Crown instead the relations between Diana and the royal family are examined, from the first meeting with Carlo to the end.
Spencer therefore promises to be an original, unique film, focusing on one of the most difficult moments for Diana and which marked a turning point in her life.
