Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia is forced to live in exile in Switzerland for many years of his life, but once free to return to Italy he manages to conquer the television scene becoming the protagonist of the small screen. Here is his story and his path on TV.
Who is Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia
Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia (Geneva, 22 June 1972) is an Italian-Swiss television personality. In fact, he was born in the Swiss city where his father, Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia, is located in exile itogether with his wife Marina Doria, never accepted by his father-in-law Umberto II. The birth of the only grandson allows to heal relationships, but the process is long. In fact, the child is not given the name of his grandfather, as per tradition, and does not obtain the title of Prince of Piedmont.
After high school, Emanuele Filiberto enrolled in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ginivera but soon abandoned his studies. With the help of his father he starts working as financial advisor in a Swiss company and then subsequently launch an investment fund listed on the stock exchange.
The fate of the Savoy family changes when the constitutional law of 23 October 2002 which allows them to return to Italian soil, also allowing them to reside and hold public offices.
Emanuele thus decides to leave for Italy where marries with his wife Clotilde Courau in the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri in Rome. The two then decide to live in Montecarlo together with his children, occasionally returning to the property in the province of Perugia.
The television career of Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia
His history made him a very interesting character to the point that it was inevitable for him to enter the entertainment world. He made his debut as a regular guest in external connection in 1995 for “Those who football” to then participate, once the exile is over, in some programs. For example, he remembers his role as a juror at the talent show “Il ballo delle debutanti” aired in 2008 on Canale 5.
The following year he participated with Natalia Titova in “Dancing with the stars”, winning the Rai 1 program with 75% of the votes. Then comes in 2010 a moment of great notoriety when he participates in the Sanremo Festival with Pupo and Luca Canonici with the song “Italia amore mio”, which does not receive support from the audience but which, thanks to the participation of the public, is rescued reaching the final and winning second place.
In 2011 he then participated in the film “Christmas Holidays in Cortina” alongside Christian De Sica and Sabrina Ferilli. In addition to the film projects there is no shortage of continuous works on TV such as the reality show “The Beginner – The work ennobles” and “Beijing Express” as host of the first season. In 2019 he then participates in “Friends Celebrities” and then, two years later, he was chosen together with Stefano De Martino and Stash as a member of the jury.
Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia and the relationship with politics
In addition to projects on the small and large screen, Emanuele Filiberto dedicates himself to associations of Volunteering and promotes cultural initiatives on the history of his family in collaboration with the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities.
He also devoted himself for a short time to policy founding the party “Valori e Futuro” and running in 2008 for the foreign constituency “Europe”. The outcome is bankruptcy and he decides to try again the following year but, although the votes have increased, they are still not enough and he registers a defeat again.
