Clint Eastwood returns tonight in the first tv on Canale 5 with the film he directed and starred in Il Corriere – The Mule (2018). The feature film is based on the true story of Leo Sharp, a 90-year-old WWII veteran who became a drug courier for the Sinaloa Cartel.

Il Corriere – The Mule has as its protagonist the eighty-year-old Earl Stone. Left alone for always preferring friends and work to family, Stone also runs out of money because he has to accept the failure of his entrepreneurial business, a flower business. His only chance of salvation is a job offered to him, a job for which only the ability to drive a car is required.
The task therefore seems very simple, Earl already has a passion for driving and owns a pickup truck with which he went around selling his flowers.
Without realizing it, however, he finds himself acting from drug courier for a Mexican cartel, the Sinaloa Cartel. Earl is very good at his new job, he manages to solve his financial problems and those of the family. He acts as a courier under the pseudonym of “Tata” and is so good that the volume of cargo he carries increases more and more, so much so that in the end he is given a assistant (Ignacio Serricchio), which has the task of helping him but also of controlling him.
Meanwhile, the police investigate the case of the notorious “Tata” and, thus, the efficient anti-drug agent of the DEA Colin Bates (Bradley Cooper) begins to keep an eye on Earl, along with his partner, the agent Treviño. Earl’s economic problems are now a thing of the past but the mistakes he made resurface. Earl’s wife dies and, absent from work to go to the funeral, Earl is captured by members of the cartel. Having the clemency of the boss, Earl resumes driving for them but, now resigned, he is arrested by the agents of the DEA. Earl, plagued by guilt and feeling a failure even in private life, pleads guilty to all the charges but eventually the family will show him their support.
