Made known for having written one of the most beloved novels of recent years, Alessandro D’Avenia presented himself to the public as an excellent pen. Author of “White like milk, red like blood” here is the story of alover of literature who has decided to make writing his main job.
Who is Alessandro D’Avenia
Alessandro D’Avenia (Palermo, 2 May 1977) is an Italian writer as well as screenwriter and teacher. He grows up in a large family of six children and their parents Rita and Giuseppe. When the time has come to choose the path after middle school, he decides to move towards the classical high school, which allows him to further develop his interest in literature.
After obtaining his diploma, in fact, he decides to enroll at the La Sapienza University where he attends Classic letters. Finally, he concludes his academic career through the victory of a Ph.D in Siena finished in 2004.
Alessandro D’Avenia and the role of teacher
After obtaining the possible degrees he decides to apply to work as teacher, so he begins to work as a teacher in middle schools.
Passionate about the job he decides to attend the necessary courses for specialize in secondary education so you can also work in high school. Never wanting to stop learning, he also decides to attend a master in film production and found a theater company.
This in-depth study allows him to add the career of screenwriter which plays for Disney. The passion for writing, however, also manifests itself in its most classic form in 2010 when he publishes his first novel which in a very short time becomes an international best seller. The plot of “White as milk, red as blood” is taken from a real story of a girl who died of leukemia who was being substituted in a Roman high school.
Success as a writer by Alessandro D’Avenia
After having achieved great success with his first novel, which has also become a fairly successful film project, he is ready in 2011 for the publication of the second. Also published at Mondadori “Things nobody knows” which again sees a teenager as the protagonist in a phase of life that D’Avenia got to know during all his years of teaching.
With the great feedback received from audiences and critics, he tries his hand at writing two other novels: “What hell is not”, quote from “The invisible cities” Italo Calvino, e “The art of being fragile. How Leopardi can save your life “. The latter is presented in non-fiction form and has also been transposed to the theater. His fifth book, on the other hand, retraces some of the best-known love stories in literature and is entitled “Every story is a love story” while the sixth, released in 2020 with the name “The appeal” tells the relationship between a blind professor and his pupils.
In addition to the publication of novels, he began to collaborate with some Italian newspapers including La Stampa, Avvenire but also Corriere della Sera through the permanent role in a column. As well as on paper, he writes online both on his “Prof 2.0” website and on his social pages such as Twitter and Instagram.
