Shirley MacLean Beaty, aka Shirley MacLaine (Richmond, April 24, 1934), is an American actress, director and screenwriter. He grows up with his father a professor of psychology, his mother a theatrical teacher and his brother Warren. As a child, her talent for baseball emerges, which she abandons in favor of dance. He actually understands that he does not have the right physique but of love the entertainment world and so he finds new ways to express his passion.
He therefore begins to study acting during the school years and once the academic period is over he obtains the part one in a musical, “The Pajama Game” on Broadway in 1954. His shows are soon noticed by important producers and so within a few months he gets a contract with Paramount.
The beginning of the film career
She just turned twenty when she was cast as the female lead in Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Conspiracy of the Innocents”.
With this 1955 project wins the Golden Globe as best debut actress and opens the way for her to numerous films. He later takes part in “Artists and models” and then in “Someone Will Come” alongside Frank Sinatra with which he gets his first awarding to the Oscars.
