The curly hair mask helps to better define the curl while maintaining its round shape. However, not all products are the same: some restructure the hair fiber, others nourish intensely or, again, regulate without weighing it down. Find out how to choose them
Curly hair is definitely unique. The oval structure of the hair that determines them, however, tends to make them frizzy and difficult to untangle. The dehydration they experience can make them drier and more prone to breakage. Here is that in the hair routine it is essential to insert a mask for curly hair, to be alternated with the conditioner. These treatments are formulated both to nourish the hair fiber and to maintain its round shape. Find out how to choose them and which ones are right for you.
Curly hair mask: as you choose
Not all curly hair masks are the same: some aim more atdeep hydration, others, on the other hand, focus onelasticity of the hedgehog. How to tell the difference? From the ingredients: if they appear at the top of the INCI oils and butters, the mask will have more nourishing function. If, on the other hand, the formula is enriched with elasticizing polymers (often the result of research with a lot of registered patent), the product will also be able to give the hedgehog its beautiful sinuous shape. This distinction, however, does not exclude the fact that a product performs both functions, nutritious and disciplining. To find your way around shopping, just look at the health of your curls.
Curly hair mask: from strong nourishing to soft moisturizing
Another criterion for choosing the curly hair mask is to observe the frame structure, that is, if it is thin or thick. THE fine hair they will need less intense nourishment than robust ones, which tend to get rough more easily.
After shampooing, an excessive amount of nourishing product could also weigh down and overload the hair. If your hair is “just” wavy, it will require masks to provide hydration and light to medium nourishment level, while curly hair generally needs to stronger treatments, of medium-intense level. How to tell the difference? From the texture: the creamier it is, the more it nourishes in depth and, therefore, softens damaged hair.
A mask for every type of hedgehog
“In Italy 62% of women have wavy or curly hair, a feature that is also confirmed among the latest main trends, as more and more women accept and indulge their natural curls” – comments Alice Farella Monti, Digital & PR Manager Wella Professionals Italy. However, this means that not all curls are the same: even your own hedgehog shape can direct you to the right mask.
To choose it, look at your curls: if the locks wrap around themselves creating thick spirals with a diameter of about 2 cm, you have the so-called “corkscrew” curly hair. Often this hair is quite fine and is easily damaged because it has a very thin and delicate hydrolipidic film. In this case you will need a curly hair mask with not too intense nourishment.
The spring curls afro style they are usually very dense, elastic (they shorten up to 75% during drying) but also extremely frizzy. This is why they require intensive nourishing masks to be used in every wash.
Then there are the curls, with a wide and not too round spiral, which represent the most wavy step of wavy hair. This type of hair tends to lose tone and volume. Therefore masks based on keratin, a protein that not only fights frizz, but also rebuilds the hair structure and reduces breakage. The hair thus becomes more resistant, full-bodied and shiny.
